This urban design study explores the opportunities of the Italian Club site in Fremantle to better connect the city and the harbour.
Italian Club
The Italian Club occupies a significant site at the edge of the Esplanade, the west end of Fremantle and the Fishing Boat Harbour.
The masterplan of the site extends Esplanade Park with new parkland and community activity space and reconnecting Norfolk Street to the waterfront. It creates an eclectic mix of green spaces. These range from a generous extension of the Esplanade park to smaller public courtyards and laneways between buildings, private roof terraces and a community garden space. The built form of the development is conceived as a series of buildings that reflect the urban fabric and scale of historic Fremantle.
